Mr. & Mrs. Mass Care

With a little thought and a lot of imagination, Ted and Michelle Saunders (also known as Mr. & Mrs. Mass Care) of the Central New Jersey Chapter constructed their very own “mass care mobile”. After joining the Red Cross during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the Saunders concentrated their time and talents on mobile feeding.

Jos, 26, and Melissa, 25, Mendez of Manville, N J, paced the floor most of the night on April 15th. The rivers and streams had swollen beyond their banks and were rising quickly throughout the day. The couple drove all but one of their families vehicles to the high school parking lot to keep them safe.

Surrounded by pallets of cased water, Rosa Gutierrez of Bound Brook, New Jersey, shared her familys living nightmare regarding the recent community floods. Their homes basement and entire first floor were destroyed and filled with over 5 feet of contaminated flood water.
